Uganda concern about lack of access to medicines

Access to essential medicines is one of several issues that poor people in Uganda want to see improved as part of improvements to their health system. A recent study by researchers at Makerere University School of Public Health, Kampala, found that poor people think their health services are not good enough. They perceive health workers as inadequately trained, with some workers having poor attitudes. There are long distances to travel to health facilities. MeTA Uganda is working to address one of these key concerns: access to essential drugs. By bringing together key stakeholders from the government, business and civil society sectors, they hope to contribute to change this situation.
