A presentation on MeTA will form part of a session about the ‘Promotion of transparency and accountability in the health sector’ at a donors’ roundtable in Vietnam on 17 November, 2009.

Dr Socorro Escalante, of the World Health Organization in Vietnam and former coordinator of MeTA Philippines, will make a presentation on MeTA and WHO’s Good Governance for Medicines (GGM) programme. MeTA Philippines works closely with GGM.

The roundtable, entitled ‘Corruption perception and impact on poverty in the health sector in Vietnam: how to improve transparency and accountability’ is being hosted by the Swedish Embassy in Hanoi and other proposed sessions will include ‘Mapping corruption risks in the health sector’ and ‘Perceptions, evidences and impacts of non-transparent and unacceptable practices in the health sector in Vietnam’.

The roundtable will be chaired by Professor Taryn Vian of Boston University School of Public Health.
